Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the city.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to begin their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look out of place, but the events of the third episode show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
First, the team understands precisely where to go next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used the foes for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, striking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then paid off his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could help the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to head to the remote area in search of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Questers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can anticipate finding out which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
