Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the points lead from Piastri by one point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his team followed a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese slid over the exit kerbs before spinning across the gravel trap, and was fortunate to escape with just a minor contact of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn leading to the final corner on to the main straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
