The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure Over Size Modifications

Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.

Digital Channels Backlash

Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing because of the remapping.

The company said the new system was more in line with similar services.

It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.

Size Classification Changes

Before the change, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Member Stories

A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained.

Necessary Adjustments

Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she stated.

Platform Context

The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users.

It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
